Thank You
The pandemic brought so much unexpected support — emotional and financial — and especially to my apparel business. For a solid minute, I thought launching this website would resolve my financial problems. It didn’t, or at least not in the way I expected. A lot of great things still happened.
My mom offered a big chunk of money to help with debt, and at the same time I was offered a job. The attorneys with LGBTQ firm Hendricks Law could not be sweeter, and they’ve let me keep all my varied freelance gigs that keep me creatively grounded and being me.
The Patreon is small but mighty — I really thought that’s where the money would roll in. It didn’t, but right now, it still pulls in a little more than $150 monthly, which amazes me. None of my Patrons left since beginning, and I sure hope they’ve been enjoying the slow release of certain benefits: exclusive content, postcards, and apparel discounts. Really my favorite aspect of it is a sort of “close friends” story mode on Instagram, or that feel of things. I can share posts and updates, and previews to subscribers who really want to see them.
I gained a few subscribers especially after posting a great interview with local activist Cleve Jones. So, thank you for joining:
- Noah Silas
- “SifuTeddie” AKA Anthony E.
- Dustin Rollins
- Seanny Phoenix
- John Chastain
And thank you for your continued support: Jody Godoy, Ramon Lopez, William Cline, Jonathan Apodaca, John Spaetzel, Steve D. Glaser, Brandon McGill, Derek Slight, Jeffrey Kiser
I’ve written extensively on the loneliness I’ve felt in the pandemic. Living alone is a mixed bag, and in several moments, I felt abandoned by people close to me. This really isn’t meant as some passive-aggressive dig at some people I’m sure who will read this; Just objectively a difficult moment. I’d like to thank some unexpected support by way of chats, phone calls, and in-person hangouts: Sam Weddle, Paul Renolis, Jeremy Schrader, Ron Moore, John Spaetzel, Anthony Brichetto, Briana Burnette, John M. Brett.
And of course, a thank you to Paul Gallo — my draping teacher who has been an unending source of fun collaboration and continued mentorship. So glad to have met you.
